I actually wrote not because I love my SL or because my wife loves her diesel suv but because of service. Bill Bloom in service is your best sales person. Yes, I know he didn’t sell us our cars but he sells the dealership every time I do business there. I had to smile, reading about the body shop. I only go back to 1978, when a lady rolled throug a stop sign and I hit her doing 55 mph, no seat belt, no air bags, just slammed on the brakes and braced my arms and thought how glad I was that Mercedes put such detail in the cage surrounding me and the chasis. I just told the policeman to have the car towed to Sears. It was my first real car. It took almost 6 months to get the parts and piece it back together at Sears Autobody. When I picked it up, I thought the must have given up and just gave me a new one, it was that good. I had the absolute temerity of taking my company car (a Saab) to Andy and I honestly had to sell him on the idea of working on it. Now, I see in the newsletter they are restoring even Chevrolets, for Don Sears but I guess he has some influence. I kid Andy when I see him asking for frequent buyer programs because we always have some scuff and that is like wearing sneakers to a ball, especially for my wife.
